Four gunmen ambushed a professor of the University of Makati while the victim was driving from his Taguig City home Wednesday morning, police said.
Police identified the fatality as Rene Domingo, a professor at the University of Makati and former Taguig city government employee.
Probers said three to four gunmen on board two vehicles opened fire at Domingo as the victim sat behind the wheel of his maroon Starex van (WFC-212) along Mariano Avenue, Barangay Ususan around 9 a.m.
Domingo died of several gunshot wounds to the body.
Chief Superintendent Luizo Ticman, director of the Southern Police District, said blocking forces have been set up around Taguig as policemen pursued the professor’s assailants.
