MANILA, Philippines Only four days earlier, Adam "Ando" Baruelo walked out of the Quezon City Jail, where he had spent six years before being absolved of a frustrated murder charge.
On Wednesday, he found himself behind bars again, this time at Camp Karingal, after being arrested for allegedly being involved in the stabbing of Mar Padecio, a 17-year-old resident of Barangay Payatas.
The incident happened at about 2 a.m., according to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).
The teenager was reportedly chatting with friends in front of a barbershop in Lupang Pangako, when Baruelo and seven other men attacked them.
After Padecio was stabbed in the chest it was not clear who did it the assailants all fled on foot.
Friends rushed the wounded teenager to the East Avenue Medical Center, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Responding policemen were only able to collar Baruelo, while his seven cohorts, one of whom identified only as one "Mac-Mac Luga," remain at-large.
According to the QCPD, Baruelo had been also been arrested for wielding a bladed weapon also in their neighborhood.
"Hindi ko pa nga na-eenjoy ito eh (I still have not enjoyed it and suddenly I was arrested again," Baruelo said of his short-lived freedom. - Mark Merueñas, GMANews.TV
